Rohit Sharma is making headlines once again after another remarkable stretch of ODI cricket. The Indian opener recently completed 12,000 ODI runs and produced his 35th ODI century, adding another major chapter to an already extraordinary career.
Rohit Sharma Reaches the 12,000-Run Mark
Rohit reached 12,000 runs in men’s ODIs during India’s second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. He became only the third Indian, after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, to reach the landmark and the seventh batter overall.
The milestone underlines Rohit’s extraordinary consistency in the 50-over format, where his career has included 34 centuries at the time he reached 12,000 runs.
A Brilliant Century Adds More Fire
Rohit’s 12,000-run milestone came during an outstanding innings against West Indies. He smashed 101 runs from 75 balls in the second ODI, helping India chase a huge target of 406.
The century was his 35th in ODI cricket, another landmark that pushed his name further into the record books.
The Hitman Still Has More to Offer
Rohit’s recent performances have also renewed attention around his role in India’s ODI plans ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The ICC reported that Rohit remains focused on the upcoming World Cup and said that as long as he is playing, there is always something to look forward to.
His experience alongside India’s newer generation, including captain Shubman Gill, remains another major storyline surrounding the team. Gill has publicly acknowledged the value of having experienced players such as Rohit and Virat Kohli around the squad.
Rohit Sharma’s Remarkable ODI Legacy
Rohit’s ODI career includes the highest individual score in men’s ODI cricket — an unbeaten 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. He is also the only batter to have scored three ODI double-centuries.
With another major milestone now added to his record, Rohit Sharma continues to be one of the biggest names in Indian cricket.
The Hitman may be entering another chapter of his career, but his latest numbers show why Rohit Sharma remains one of the most closely watched players in ODI cricket.
